Deserving of a 3.5. This story started out a little slow for me and a bit choppy. I found myself on several occasions lost in certain facts of the story. Nevertheless, the protagonist, Kate Daniels, is one of my favorite female characters in quite some time. She's an independent, strong, intelligent, borderline nutjob who also exudes a bit of vulnerability and loneliness that I found believable and endearing. As far as the male characters, you only need to know about one and his name is Curran. Curran is the Beast Lord (yay!) and I'll leave it at that. I won't go into the plot of the story as it's already been covered in detail but I will say that the strong and likable characters more than make up for the bumps in the story. My interest is definitely peaked for the next in the series.
